Women of color have experienced the brunt of health disparities due to their marginalization in this country. Policymakers, at every level, must begin to address the significant issues that are exacerbating historical disparities faced by these women. In order to do that, structural and systemic racism must be treated as a public health issue impacting the health and well-being of women and girls, particularly women and girls of color. Moreover, the need for culturally humble healthcare providers is a priority if we are to eliminate racial disparities in health outcomes.
